The Swedish Mammography Cohort Clinical Subcohorts (SMC Clinical Subcohorts) - SMC Clinical Subcohort visit 1 Uppsala (2003-2009)

A clinical examination of a subgroup of women in the Swedish mammography cohort living in Uppsala was conducted between 2003 and 2009. The cycle of re-examination for this group started in year 2015 and is ongoing. For women living in Västerås a clinical examination were conducted between 2010 and 2019. The re-examination for women in Västerås is pending but the aim is to start during 2022. In connection to the clinical visit the participants have filled in health and lifestyle questionnaires, and blood, urine, faeces and adipose tissue has been collected at the visit together with functional tests (e.g. memory test, gait speed and muscle strength) and biometric measures (height, weight, body composition). From 2003 through 2009 participants in the Swedish Mammography Cohort below age 85 years and living in the town of Uppsala were randomly selected and invited to participate in a clinical subcohort. Of the 8,311 invited women 65% answered the received diet, lifestyle, and physical activity questionnaire and 60%, 5,032 women, participated in the health examination. Samples are available for 5022 women. The health examination included weight, height, waist, hip, and blood pressure measurements, and body composition measurement using a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan. Samples of fasting blood, urine and adipose tissue were also collected at the health exam.
